There are two types of audience, one who just watch the film and other who watch the technical scenes of the film. The vfx and animation artist come under the "other" category and we can't blame ourselves. There is a vision beyond the film, the love for art and time we spent on creating CGI scenes for films.
Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street did earn applauds, Oscar nominations and lot of money, but to earn all this, VFX was needed. Studios like Scanline VFX and Brainstorm Digital created some amazing CGI shots, and also did some awesome environment replacements. Well in the style of Jordan Belfort, "Are these even legal for a film? Hell yes!!"
