News: 87th Academy Awards Winners - Animation & VFX

The 87th Academy Awards honoring films of 2014 had great surprises. The most nominated films  (9 each) Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) and The Grand Budapest Hotel, also were the most award winners (winning 4 each). Birdman won the major two awards for Best Picture and Alejandro G. Iñárritu Best Director. Grand winners in acting were Eddie Redmayne won Best Actor for The Theory of Everything, Julianne Moore won Best Actress for Still Alice, J. K. Simmons won Best Supporting Actor for Whiplash, and Patricia Arquette won Best Supporting Actress for Boyhood.

As in our favorite category, here are winners for both Animation and VFX:

Marvel Comics got a chance to win 1 out of 4 (not a good time for the major comic book films). There was few hopes for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes to win the VFX category, and also The Tale of the Princess Kaguya for the Animation feature film. But as we all know the juries know better than us.
