News: ILM Spreading Magic For The Last 40 Years

In 1977 George Lucas wanted to release his space opera film Stars Wars  with an extraordinary visual effects which the world has never seen. After seeing the the vfx team of 20th Century Fox non-operational, he approached the 2001: A Space Odyssey  vfx genius Douglas Trumbull, but later denied as Douglas was busy with Steven Spielberg's project. Trumbull later suggested Lucas to approach his assistant John Dykstra. Dykstra gathered a small team of college students, artists and engineers, and Lucas named the team Industrial Light and Magic, which became the special visual effects team of the film. And since then ILM started it magic in various films. ILM received 15 Oscars for its visual effects work in various filmsand also received other notable recognition.
